All Jack Burns owns is his horse and his rifle. But it's also the only thing he needs. A horse for the freedom to ride out into the majestic expanses he loves. And a rifle to defend that freedom. Often listed as one of the greatest Westerns of all time , THE WILD MAN is a celebration of freedom, fittingly written by the legendary Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted by Hollywood during the senseless Russian paranoia of the 1950s. Two years earlier, he had also written the Kirk Douglas blockbuster SPARTACUS. One of the film's many fans is Steven Spielberg, who saw to it that Universal restored the film in this version.
