Cartoonist David Parson stops young Romanian-born woman Aura Petrescu from committing suicide by jumping off a bridge. During the conversation that follows, it becomes clear that both share a troubled past with drug abuse and other problems. A bond is formed between the two and soon David finds himself drawn into a terrifying story with ingredients such as serial killers obsessed with cutting off the heads of their victims, séances and repressed memories. A visually strong and atmospheric thriller from the master Dario Argento.

The director's second film for the American market is supported by his sense of grand visual storytelling, scripted by horror writer TED Klein ( The Ceremonies , Providence After Dark and Other Writings ), music by Pino Donaggio ( Don't Look Now , Carrie , Two Evil Eyes ) and memorable performances by Asia Argento (only 16 years old at the time of filming), Christopher Rydell, Piper Laurie ( Twin Peaks ) and Brad Dourif ( Wise Blood , Exorcist III , Child’s Play ).
