Erlan and Dauren have been friends since childhood. But just as they are about to begin their adult lives, they fall in love with the same girl. The rivalry drives a wedge between the two young men who were previously almost like brothers. A tragedy occurs that further reinforces the feeling that they don't really know each other anymore. Erlan enlists and soon distinguishes himself as a member of a Kazakh special forces unit. Dauren becomes a gang member and a criminal. When the friends' paths cross some time later, Erlan is a guard in the prison camp where Dauren has been sent to serve a nine-year prison sentence. At the same time, a conflict breaks out and as it escalates, the former friends are forced to make a difficult decision.

Director Serikbol Utepbergenov ( Time of Heroes ) delivers an emotional and action-packed story inspired by real events. The Sixth Post is based on the mass escape that took place in 2010, when a group of 21 prisoners escaped from a correctional facility in the city of Aktau. The incident in Aktau is cited as one of the largest escapes in Kazakhstan's history. Utepbergenov carried out the project with the support of both the military and the National Guard, who provided both filming locations and equipment.
