A mutated virus turns infected Taipei residents into crazed, bloodthirsty creatures who kill without inhibition or mercy. Though on opposite sides of the city when the grotesque carnage begins, young couple Kat and Jim try to find each other in the terrible chaos. But how will they cope when the everyday streets have become hell on earth and a mentally twisted mob that acts out their wildest fantasies on anyone they can get their hands on stands between them and a reunion?
Debutant director Rob Jabbaz lets his characters and the audience run a truly brutal street race through scenes that constantly raise the stakes and the level of violence. Everything builds towards a bloody crescendo as no dark scenarios are left unrealized in a film that has made even the most hardened splatter fans recoil. The presence becomes total due to extremely well-executed practical effects which conjure up images of arterial fountains and mutilations that will not leave the viewers' memory in the first place.
