The millennium is upon us. The Y2K bug is on everyone's lips. Some seriously believe that New Year's Eve could be the world's last night. If that's the case, at least the grotesquely rich and decadent gang gathered at the luxurious Gstaad hotel in Switzerland are planning a grand finale. Let the champagne corks pop and the Russian caviar be served in trays! And if the world is still around after all when the smoke from the fireworks has cleared, isn't it wrong for those who can to make a buck off the digital chaos? No matter how it goes, one thing is certain. Expect a bubble!

Master director Roman Polanski ( Rosemary's Baby , An Officer and a Spy ) is back! The Palace is a burlesque and brutal operation about the one percent and their ridiculous belief that the world revolves around their axis. Polanski gives us a farce where subtlety is conspicuous by its absence and the jokes are of the crude kind. Or how about a side story focused on the attraction between a chihuahua and a penguin? The cast includes Oliver Masucci ( Chess ), Fanny Ardant ( The Colors of Fire ), John Cleese ( A Fish Called Wanda ) and Mickey Rourke ( The Wrestler ).
