ONE OF THE MOST MYTHOLOGICAL FILM IN HISTORY. STOPPED IN 1971 AND NEVER SHOWN AGAIN. UNTIL NOW!
Acclaimed worldwide for Easy Rider, THE LAST MOVIE would become Dennis Hopper's even greater successor. The filming was set in a mountain village high in the mountains of Peru, where drugs were rampant among the actors while Hopper did his best to anger both the church and the military junta. Despite the chaos, the film was completed and got off to a brilliant start when it was awarded a prize in Venice. But Universal Pictures hated the film and demanded that it be recut. Hopper stubbornly refused, which was the start of a row that would last for almost half a century and make the work known as "The film everyone knows, but no one has seen". Until today when it has finally been released. In restored condition. In Hopper's original form!
The plot: A Hollywood film crew goes to Peru to shoot a western. When production is over, stuntman Kansas (Hopper) stays with a prostitute. The filming location is now taken over by the local Indians who recreate a series of violent scenes from the film. But this time without film tricks. The violence is real! FOOTNOTE: There are frames in the film with the text "SCENE MISSING". But no scenes are missing, this is the complete version. The frames were a whim on Hopper's part.
