THE HOWLING caused a sensation at its premiere with make-up effects of an unprecedented kind. Behind these was only 21-year-old Rob Bottin, the genius who later worked wonders with The Thing and was awarded an Oscar for Total Recall. Joe Dante (Gremlins, Piraya) was responsible for the direction, which resulted in a success that has so far resulted in seven (!) sequels. In cinemas, Swedes got to see a version that the censors cut by four minutes, but now we get to enjoy the film in its uncut glory.
