A military plane crashes just outside a small town in Pennsylvania. On board are capsules of bacteria intended for biological warfare that now end up in the local drinking water. Those who are lucky die from the poison, while others are struck by paranoia and an irresistible urge to kill. The army arrives with orders to quarantine the town, but fails to prevent everyone from fleeing. If only a few escape, the infection could spread throughout the country...

With Night of the Living Dead, George A. Romero revolutionized the horror genre and cemented his position as one of the genre's leading directors with several sequels to the aforementioned film, as well as the vampire drama Martin and the Stephen King successes Creepshow and The Dark Half. In 2010, The Crazies was remade by Breck Eisner.
