Studio S brings two Swedish exploitation thrillers back to life, films accused on their release of being sensationalist, violent and even dangerous to watch! Packed to the brim with drugs, violence, sex and general mayhem, this Swedish double trouble offers a very different, far grittier vision of Swedish cinema history than the one presented by Bergman, Troell and the rest.
DIRTY FINGERS
A thriller directed by Arne Mattsson (One Summer of Happiness), in which a fashion photographer (Peder Kinberg) and his colleague (Ulf Brunnberg) are drawn into the hunt for a ruthless drug syndicate. Sleazy characters, brutal heavies, drugs, sex, murder and torture are all on the agenda. Swedish censors hacked the film to pieces, making four cuts totalling four minutes, but this is the original version. Newly restored by the Swedish Film Institute.
HET SNÖ
A hard-hitting thriller from television personality Torbjörn Axelman, in which a gullible racing driver (Sven-Bertil Taube) smuggles drugs for a ruthless gangster (Ernst-Hugo Järegård) who indulges in Arthur Rimbaud and tomato juice, hands out presents to sick children and passes death sentences on people who do not know what is good for them. Expressen described it as “aimed at the international B-movie market” and observed that “some Italian films are worse”. Newly restored by Studio S.
