NEVER BEFORE RELEASED DVD FILMS BY BO WIDERBERG, JAN HALLDOFF AND YNGVE GAMLIN!

PACKED WITH UNIQUE BONUS MATERIAL!

The 1960s are one of the most interesting periods in Swedish film history. It was then that Harry Schein pushed through the creation of the Swedish Film Institute and our first real film school. It was then that Bo Widerberg scolded Swedish film in the debate book Visionen i svensk film and called the hate object Ingmar Bergman “our spirit’s Dala horse in the world”. And it was then that the newly formed Swedish directors left the film studio and, like the heroes of the French Wave, took their cameras out into the city to tell stories about real people. Studio S is proud to present six films by three 1960s directors who didn’t just stir the simmering pot – they made it boil over!

Love 65 (1965) A very personal love film by Bo Widerberg. The plot revolves around a film director who has succeeded in his career, but has not achieved harmony. Now he experiences a different kind of love. With Keve Hjelm, Inger Taube and Evabritt Strandberg.

Hey Roland! (1966) Bo Widerberg's only comedy is a fling with the advertising industry where the young writer Roland takes a job at an advertising agency where he gets to do market research with young people. With Thommy Berggren, Mona Malm and Ulf Palme.

The Hunt (1965) The multi-tasker Gamlin's icy drama about a group of hunters on the hunt for a young criminal in the Jämtland mountains was awarded a Silver Bear in Berlin, among other awards. DN's Mauritz Edström wrote that it was "one of the most important things to happen to Swedish cinema after Bergman". With Halvar Björk and Lars Passgård.

The Bathers (1968) Gamlin's lush story is about marginalized people in a depopulated area of Jämtland, where a few precarious jobs remain at the sawmill, in the hardware store and the alcohol rehabilitation center. With Ingrid Thulin, Halvar Björk, Gunilla Olsson and Björn Gustafson.

The Myth (1966) The oddball Harry is on a collision course with social workers, police and checkpoint guards, culminating when he plucks a flower in Kungsan. Aftonbladet thought Halldoff made "a breakaway from the conventions of Swedish cinema as convincing as Widerberg". With Per Myrberg, Evabritt Strandberg and Per Oscarsson.

Life is Fun (1967) In Janne Halldoff's second feature film, a 25-year-old single mother is lured in by a criminal youth gang that raves, hooligans, fights and steals cars. Dagens Nyheter wrote that it was "a rant about the generational gaps that the teenage revolution accentuates. With Inger Taube, Lars Hansson and Stig Törnblom.

BONUS MATERIAL: Yngve Gamlin's nature parodies Sävdykaren (1958), Hjolbänningar (1961), The Flata Monster (1962) and Allt är nära fastän vågt arna (1963), Janne Halldoff's short films Håltimme (1965) and Nilsson (1965), the short documentary Widerberg 65 (1965), clips from the television archive, trailers and more.
