The Smuggler King

The WILD WEST coast in 1922. Alcohol is banned in Sweden and Bohuslän's own Al Capone, Strauss, makes a fortune smuggling to thirsty Swedes. Albert Jansson comes here to make a living as a fisherman. But when he realizes that the price of alcohol per liter beats the price of cod per kilo by a huge margin, he quickly changes jobs. Strauss, however, does not accept the slightest competition and intends to make a fool of Albert, who also gets the unusually zealous customs inspector Axel Winkel after him. Time to trade life jackets for life jackets!

THE SMUGGLARKUNGEN unites two of Sweden's most popular entertainers ever – Janne Carlsson in the role of Albert and Björn Skifs as Axel. As Strauss we see Ernst Günther and in his league we find the Danish rock icon Sanne Salomonsen. The screenwriters Åke Cato and Jan Richter also had a huge hit with Gräsänklingar and the director is Sune Lund-Sørensen, who was also behind Skifs's smash hit Joker.
