After Frida and her tall friend break in and the thief is sentenced to prison, they decide to do something unexpected – to free him! They have never believed in putting walls around people, so now they have to show that they live as they preach! But first they have to manage to fool the prison director, who should be in prison himself – in a madhouse! Tage Danielsson's big success is something as unusual as a Tage film where Tage himself has a major role.

In the wonderful cast we also find Lena Nyman as Frida, Gösta Ekman as the prison boss, Ernst-Hugo Järegård as the thief, Margaretha Krook as a lovesick woman, Hasse Alfredson as a stupid prison guard and Jan Malmsjö as a singing and dancing professor. Large parts of the film were shot at Långholmen prison in Stockholm shortly after it was closed down.
