His head is clean-shaven, his body covered in tattoos. In his hand he holds Mein Kampf, his Bible and a rulebook. He is Hondo, the leader of the feared neo-Nazis in Melbourne. Driven by blind hatred and even blinder prejudice, they attack with baseball bats, chains and knives against the invaders. Those who “stole their country”, who don’t look like them. The streets are their battlefield. Every scar is a medal.

ROMPER STOMPER is still considered one of the most dangerous and provocative films ever made. At its premiere, the Australian debate pages were filled with warnings that the film could lead to more violence. In London, it was demonstrated outside cinemas. But at the AFI Awards (Australia's Oscars), the tone was more upbeat. There, the film was awarded three statuettes, including for Russell Crowe's leading role, which laid the foundation for his grand Hollywood career.
