With his dingo as his only companion, truck driver Quid begins his 350-mile journey across Australia to deliver meat to Perth. To kill time, Quid fantasizes about the lives of other road users. When he learns that a serial killer has struck on the same route, his attention is drawn to a green van that has appeared in his vicinity a disturbing number of times. A curious hitchhiker who Quid picks up is also drawn into the game. But isn't it all really just about brain ghosts? Isn't it a mad murderer they're now pursuing..?
Stacy Keach gives one of his most popular roles in this Australian thriller. His co-passenger is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, who was a hot name after the horror hits Halloween and The Mist. Director Richard Franklin was praised for making a thriller that gallantly traveled in Hitchcock's footsteps, which made him the obvious choice to helm Psycho II two years later.
