“Art is a lie that shows reality.” This quote from Picasso opens Hasse & Tages’ comedy, in which they concoct a crazy funny story about the artist’s life. The film was particularly notable for its quirky dialogue, which is a hodgepodge of ten different languages, and for the visual tricks that still impress today.

The most laughs came from Gösta Ekman's desperate "floor swimming" to explain the word "water", Lena Nyman's Finnish song (actually a food recipe), Hasse Alfredson's "Halfliter" healing, Rolv Wesenlund as the electric chair repairman, the Russian fish ballet and Magnus Härenstam and Sune Mangs as the quarrelsome brothers Hitler and Churchill.

With over 1.5 million visitors, this became Hasse&Tage's second biggest box office success. Less fun is that it was their last film together behind the camera.
