Hasse Alfredson's hit film is based on Waldemar Hammenhög's novel Pettersson & Bendel, which was filmed in 1933 in a much-maligned (but successful) version starring Adolf Jahr and Semmy Friedmann. Here, the plot has been moved forward 50 years in time and much else has also changed. For the better.

Stellan Skarsgård is the initial P and Allan Edwall is the B in the prank company P&B. Agnetha Fältskog sings the film's theme song, the hit song It's So Nice to Be Rich.
