Can you think back and remember the choices that determined how your life turned out? Nemo (Jared Leto), who in the not-too-distant future is the last mortal man on Earth, can. Near the final curtain of his existence, he remembers not just one existence but the many different ones that would have arisen if other choices had been made or the fates of chance had turned out differently.

Jaco Van Dormael's mind-expanding film uses chaos theory and quantum physics to tell a story about life, love and the endless ramifications that arise in the aftermath of the choices many of us face. Award-winning for direction and screenplay, its exquisite photography and visual expression, the innovative editing and, not least, the music by Pierre Van Dormael (who sadly was awarded posthumously when he passed away from cancer in 2008 at the age of 56) is mentioned Mr. Nobody also often when the best films in the science fiction genre since the turn of the millennium are to be chosen.
