SO TOUGH THAT IT WAS TOTALLY BANNED IN SWEDEN!
Hated by the censors! Loved by Tarantino! THE MAN FROM HONG KONG is undoubtedly one of the coolest action films of the 1970s. Right from the opening fight, on top of Ayers Rock (!), it sets the standard for a breathtaking action scramble packed with car chases, crazy stunts and rock-hard karate fights. Around the world, cinema audiences cheered like excited football fans, but in Sweden the censors immediately showed the red card. Expulsion!
George Lazenby had shocked the film world a few years earlier by quitting the 007 circus after his first agent film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Here he plays Australian drug lord Mr. Big, who goes head-to-head with karate-kicking Hong Kong cop Fang, played by Jimmy Wang Yu.
Grant Page, who became world-famous for Mad Max, is in charge of the totally insane stunts, Raymond Chow, who put together all of Bruce Lee's films, is the producer, and Tarantino favorite Brian Trenchard-Smith is responsible for the script and direction. And of course, the film is now being shown uncut!
