During the heyday of the video dynasty, the MANIAC COP trilogy was a huge success. Unfortunately, the films were censored in many countries, including Sweden. The versions that are now being released are uncut and also digitally restored.

The trilogy is packed with cult stars like Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead), Tom Atkins (Escape from New York), Laurene Landon (The Hundred), Richard Roundtree (Shaft), William Smith (Falconetti in The Poor and the Rich), Robert Davi (The Bond Villain in Time for Vengeance), Robert Forster (Vigilante), Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street) and of course Robert Z'Dar as Maniac Cop! Behind the camera were two of the giants of the B-movie world. William Lustig (Maniac, Vigilante) directed and Larry Cohen (It's Alive I-III, The Stuff, Phone Booth) wrote the screenplay.
