Everyone speaks English! 16-year-old schoolgirl Inga (Christina Lindberg) travels from the country to Stockholm to visit her older sister Greta (Monica Ekman) and her boyfriend Carsten (Mikael Ekman). Inga is shocked by Greta and Carsten's open sexuality and hash smoking, but at the same time strangely excited. When she meets Björn, Inga begins a relationship with him without Greta's knowledge. Inga also begins to have unpleasant, violent sex dreams... Maid in Sweden was filmed in 1969, even before the then 19-year-old Christina's official film debut in Sweden, Rötmånad (1970). The US-financed Maid in Sweden was made for the international market and was first released in 1971, but was never shown in Sweden. Typically, Inga was the Americans' favorite name for loose Swedish girls in film, a name that appeared in a long line of sexploitation films in the 70s. Monica Ekman was married to Mikael Ekman, who the following year directed his wife and Stellan Skarsgård in the sexploitation classic Strandhugg i somras , and later made a bunch of Hassel and Jönssonligan films.
