1812. All the men are off to war and the village of Fors gets a new vicar. The vicar's ancestor burned a witch at the stake in the 17th century and she cast a curse on the family. One day the priest wakes up with a stand that won't budge. He has been invited to the rectory, and all the sex-hungry women of the village do their best to cure the vicar's condition so the visit can take place...
The film is based on Bengt Anderberg's short story När det gick för kyrkoherden in the popular anthology Kärlek I (1965). Director Torgny Wickman (Kärlekens språk) was passionate about both issues of sexuality and the double standards of the clergy and small towns, so the film was made for him.
Star-studded cast including Jarl Borssén (TV's Party, Pippi Longstocking on the Seven Seas), Magali Noël (Fellini's Amarcord), Solveig Andersson (Thriller - a cruel film, Eva - the outcast), Margit Carlqvist (The Hemsöborna, Exposé), Diana Kjaer (The Hangover, As She Makes a Bed, He May Lie), John Elfström (Åsa-Nisse), Dirch Passer (Here Come the Berserkers), Kim Anderzon (The Language of Love, The Company Journey, Göta Canal), Åke Fridell (The Wild Strawberry Shop, The Seventh Seal, Wide Open) and the troubadour Cornelis Vreeswijk.
