DIGITALLY RESTORED SPECIAL EDITION
After studying to be a priest in Norway for several years, Trausti returns to Iceland to spread the Christian doctrine, but instead finds himself in the middle of a bloody feud. A large whale has washed ashore on the family's beach, which is a gift from heaven for a starving people that means food for several years to come. But then a great man with his warriors anchors and goes to battle for the precious meat, whereupon Trausti's mother is mortally wounded. Suddenly, the teaching of love and forgiveness seems like a distant thing when Trausti also takes up arms, now transformed into a furious warrior.
The Raven's Shadow is Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's even more magnificent and successful sequel to the Viking hit The Raven Flies, this time with two Swedes in prominent roles. Reine Brynolfsson excels as Trausti and Sune Mangs plays an unexpected – and acclaimed – role as the evil bishop.
