Jeanne du Barry tells the story of the woman who, through her cunning and charm, rose from the simplest possible relationship to King Louis XV's inner circle at Versailles. The stormy romance that ensues between the king and the courtesan leads to both controversy and strong love.

With humor, saltiness and visual extravagance, the renowned director and actor Maïwenn ( Police , The Inheritance ) tackles the unlikely love story between a woman of the people and King Louis XV of France. In the role of the French king, we see Johnny Depp ( Pirates of the Caribbean films and much more) in his first feature film since 2020. Beautiful photography by Laurent Dailland ( The Ermine ) shot on 35mm film really makes the costumes by Jürgen Doering ( Clouds Over Sils Maria ) and the settings of the royal palace of Versailles shine. Jeanne du Barry had the honor of opening this year's Cannes Film Festival and had simultaneous premieres throughout France. During its first week in the repertoire, this stylish costume drama attracted nearly 400,000 visitors.
