Jackson County Jail (Retro Movie)

On her way to New York to start a new life, the clean-cut career woman Dinah picks up two hitchhikers. The next moment, they attack, after which Dinah is dumped in a ditch. Bloody and injured, she manages to get to a nearby police station, but receives no help from the malicious country sheriff, who instead locks her up for vagrancy. In the cell next door is a dangerous male prisoner, but when night falls, he is hardly the one Dinah needs to worry about...

Yvette Mimieux and Tommy Lee Jones are the pair behind bars in this gritty thriller that is considered one of the best that B-movie king Roger Corman was behind. The film's screenwriter, debutant Donald E. Stewart, won an Oscar six years later for Gone and then went on to have great success with The Hunt for Red October. Quentin Tarantino is a big fan of the film.
