FILMMAKING AND PARANOIA IN 1970S KOREA

Filmmakers in 1970s Korea navigate a minefield of government control and censors. Formerly popular director Kim has just finished a mediocre thriller. But in a dream, he has an idea that could make Cobweb to a masterpiece. Kim becomes obsessed with the idea of filming the new ending and regaining the respect of his colleagues. When the company boss travels away to court Japanese investors, Kim sees his chance. With free access to the studio, he gets to work. But very quickly, the filming becomes the most chaotic of Kim's entire career. A visit from the censorship authorities. Actors who don't grasp the brilliance of the new script and would rather scheme against each other than play their roles. Will Cobweb Get it done before it all drives Kim crazy?

From Jee-won Kim, the director behind the Korean horror classic A Tale of Two Sisters , the messy western movie The Good, the Bad, the Weird and the revenge pose In Saw the Devil , there is an unbridled drive with the film industry that is also a strong declaration of love for it. In the master's net works on several levels at the same time and has, amidst all the layers of comedy, soap opera and metathriller, a core of seriousness that takes a hard line against everything that is called guardianship and censorship. The cast includes Song Kang-ho ( Parasite , My Beautiful Star ) and Lim Soo-jung ( A Tale of Two Sisters ).
