BUILT ON A TRUE STORY

Germany at the beginning of the war. When Solomon's sister is murdered and the rest of his family is arrested by the Gestapo, he manages to escape. As a young Jew, his life is risky, but by constantly assuming new identities, he manages to hide his true origins. In the guise of a loyal communist, he is trained by the Russians and fights alongside them before donning a Nazi uniform and accidentally performing a heroic deed under the German flag. Aware that the slightest mistake would mean his immediate death, Solomon is recruited into the elite of the Hitler Youth. There he meets the seductive Leni, who harbors an enormous hatred of Jews and now wants to have children with him - for Hitler's glory...

Multi-award-winning Agnieszka Holland (Mr. Jones, In Darkness) directs this epic drama based on the autobiography of Solomon Perel, who co-wrote the screenplay with Holland. Marco Hofschneider shines in his debut role as Solomon and Julie Delpy (Just One Day and its two sequels) stars as Leni. The film is included in Channel 4's prestigious list of "The 100 Greatest War Films".
