Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

CONTROVERSIAL SERIAL KILLER FILM IN DOCUMENTARY STYLE

Henry (Michael Rooker) is a drifter on the roads of America, murdering indiscriminately. Men, women, children – no one is safe when Henry is around. In Chicago, he moves in with his old prison cellmate Otis, and together they terrorize the city's residents with random acts of violence. But when Otis' sister, Becky, also moves in to get away from her abusive husband, something new is awakened in Henry. Is there still hope for humanity left in him, or is it too late?

The film is loosely based on the very real serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, and his accomplice Ottis Toole, and has been stopped and censored worldwide due to its very advanced, violent, and realistic cinematic language.

A MURDERER WITHOUT A CONSCIENCE

In this sequel to John McNaughton's acclaimed 1986 film, we meet Neil Giuntoli in the role of Henry. He continues his restless life on the run and murders people whenever the opportunity arises. At one of his odd jobs, as an installer of portable toilets, he is offered to live with his colleague Kai (Rich Komenich), who shares the house with his wife Crickett (Kate Walsh) and her younger sister Louisa (Carri Levinson). A domestic situation characterized by sexual tension and poorly suppressed violent impulses soon becomes a fact. When Kai initiates his new friend into the extra world of arson, little does he know that Henry's inclinations make these insurance frauds appear relatively tame. But by then it is already too late and the murders begin.

Director Chuck Parello delivers a film that is at least as merciless and dark in its view of humanity as the original. The fact that Robert F. McNaughton is responsible for the music here also ensures continuity in terms of tone. The film contains many violent scenes that are not for the squeamish.
