Hasse Ekman emerged as something of a phenomenon during his long, productive career. Innovative and fearless, he was a cinematic pioneer in many areas. He wrote scripts, directed and acted and succeeded in whatever genre he took on. Despite this, he often ended up in the shadow of Ingmar Bergman and it was not until recent years that his film work was raised to the proportions it deserves. In 2015, ten of his films were shown in a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, an honor that few Swedes have been granted. Studio S is proud to finally be able to collect some of Hasse's most important films in a massive box set with unique extra material and love for one of Sweden's most talented filmmakers. All six films are being released on DVD for the first time.

While the Door Was Closed (1946) An episodic film about the tenants of a house and what happens to them during one night. A large part of Sweden's then-elite actors participate. With Tollie Zellman, Olof Winnerstrand, Inga Landgré and Hasse Ekman. The film has been digitally restored by the Swedish Film Institute. Knack of Hearts (1950) Based on Sven Stolpe's novel "The World Without Mercy" and with Hasse Ekman himself in the lead role as a superficial seducer from the upper class. With Hasse Ekman, Margareta Fahlén and Eva Dahlbeck. The White Cat (1950) In its time, it was considered something of a scandalous film. With topics such as dark sexual desires and cocaine abuse, it caused an angry reviewer to claim that Hasse Ekman "prostituted himself with previously unknown cynicism". With Alf Kjellin, Eva Henning and Sture Lagerwall. Gabrielle (1954) A film about jealousy and love in a marriage marked by distrust, partly inspired by the director's own life. With Hasse Ekman, Eva Henning and Birger Malmsten. Jazzgossen (1958) A nostalgic look at Sweden's entertainment history from the 1920s to the 1940s, which at the time of filming cost almost a million kronor to film! With Hasse Ekman, Maj-Britt Nilsson, Elof Ahrle and Karl Gerhard. The film has been digitally restored by the Swedish Film Institute. Stöten (1961) This hard-boiled story about a coup at a racetrack was made from a script by actor Jan-Olof Rydqvist. With Gunnar Hellström, Tor Isedal, Nils Hallberg and Maude Adelson.
