When poet Clara meets book publisher John, things immediately get heated. Both are already busy with their partners and wives, respectively, so they do everything they can to keep their romance a secret. But someone knows. Clara begins to feel persecuted. She also suspects that someone has been in her apartment. More and more, she becomes convinced that someone is out to murder her.

Malin Ek and Sverre Anker Ousdal play the unfaithful couple in Hasse Alfredson's acclaimed thriller, based on a story from his short story collection The Long Nose of the Law. Other roles are played by Stellan Skarsgård, Marie Göranzon, Philip Zandén, Lotta Ramel, Örjan Ramberg and Magnus Uggla. The film was awarded two fine Guldbaggers. But it received an even more handsome award from the Danish Film Academy when it trumped both Akira Kurosawa's Ran and Roland Joffé's Field of Death and was named Best Foreign Film.
