A heartbroken singer gets a second chance when he saves a mermaid washed up on the banks of the Seine. But anyone who knows their fairy tales knows that falling in love with a creature from the sea is never easy.

Mathias Malzieu is a productive man. Since 1993 he has played in the surrealist band Dionysos but is also a writer and filmmaker. Sometimes he combines his different disciplines. The book The Boy With the Cuckoo-Clock Heart formed the basis for a concept album but also an animated film. With In A Mermaid in Paris (also based on one of his novels), Malzieu gives us a dreamy postcard from the capital of romantic love. Here, musical numbers, stop-motion, animation and color choices create an aesthetic whole that makes the film its own little universe that you are more than happy to stay in.
