The oak is the king of trees and a symbol of strength and longevity. The mightiest tree in our northern latitudes, which is associated by many with hope for life for future generations. But the oak is not just a symbol, for many animals it is the place they call home.

The kingdom of oak is a lyrical and exciting tribute to the forest and the animals with fantastically beautiful photography. We follow squirrels, frogs, insects, mice, deer, owls, wild boars and many other animals through the changes of the seasons for a year in and around a 210-year-old oak tree. All the hardships of life take place here. The struggle for survival, problems with neighborly relations, solidarity, romance and raising children.

Director Laurent Charbonnier is previously known for documentaries such as Birds of Prey and the César-nominated Animals in Love . After a long career in production ( On the Way to School is on his list of achievements), Michel Seydoux makes his directorial debut with The Oak Kingdom . The Oak Kingdom is told entirely without dialogue so that everyone, regardless of language or age, can follow along.
