Theater director and actor Yasuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima) has a passionate relationship with his wife of 20 years, screenwriter Oto (Reika Krishima). They brainstorm ideas while making love and during car trips. For the couple, their vehicle is a stage and not just a means of transportation. But even seemingly harmonious relationships can have unexpected complications. These and other unexpected, unwanted twists in life are the springboard for Ryûsuke Hamaguchi's latest contemplative and softly emotional road movie .

Based on a short story by Haruki Murakami, Hamaguchi has written an award-winning screenplay together with Takamasa Oe. Murakami's terse, precise story of under 40 pages has inspired a rich cinematic journey that takes its time and delivers strong emotions through small gestures.
