A FILM BY J. LEE THOMPSON WHO MADE THE GUNS OF NAVARONE
MONSTER DESIGN BY CARLO RAMBALDI, THREE-TIME OSCAR AWARD WINNER FOR ALIEN, KING KONG AND ET
The year is 1874. South Dakota is crippled by a monstrous buffalo that goes on a frenzied attack on both whites and Indians, always with fatal consequences. Gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok arrives here to kill the beast and receives unexpected help during his journey through the snow-covered mountains from the Sioux chief Crazy Horse, whose daughter has been killed by the beast. Hickock believes that "a dead Indian is a good Indian" and the chief's opinion of Hickock is equally vicious. But only if the two men manage to overcome their hatred and accept each other's differences will they be able to destroy their common enemy...
Bronson was at the peak of his career when THE WHITE BUFFALO was released. A few years earlier, he had been named the world's most popular movie star at the Golden Globes. Crazy Horse is played by Will Sampson, unforgettable as the Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and the cast also includes Kim Novak, equally unforgettable in Hitchcock's Vertigo.
“ BRONSON IS PERFECT AS WILD BILL HICCOCK IN THIS WESTERN WITH A STRONG FRAGRANCE OF THE TIME ” Cinema Retro
