SIX FILMS WITH EDVARD PERSSON
In the sequel to the first box office hit, the cheerful Scanian Edvard Persson packs his bags to travel to the royal capital. In five classic comedies, filmed from Värmdö to Gamla Stan, Edvard takes on clumsy Stockholmers in a way that received applause from both audiences and critics. Not least “Saturday Nights”, which, alongside “Pensionat Paradiset” and “Söderkåkar”, is classified as one of the greatest pilsner films. But of course, an Edvard Persson box is not complete without a Scanian masterpiece. So here we also offer one of Edvard's most famous films... the adventure hit “Snapphanar”!
Saturday Nights (1933) Edvard Persson and Gideon Wahlberg are two beer drinkers who stumble into a nightclub on a wet night, which naturally leads to marital arguments. By Schamyl Bauman with Dagmar Ebbesen, Ejvor Kjellström and Ruth Weijden.
The Girls from the Old Town (1934) Edvard Persson as a master painter in a comedy about honest craftsmen and young girls with love troubles. By Schamyl Bauman with Gideon Wahlberg, Karin Ekelund and Birgit Rosengren.
The Women Around Larsson (1934) A hunched shoemaker on Djurgården gets tired of his sister's strict regime and hires a housekeeper to clean up. By Schamyl Bauman with Katie Rolfsen, Birgit Rosengren and Sture Lagerwall.
Shy Anton (1940) A popular but morbidly shy cashier at a shipping brokerage office becomes a saving angel when the staff is threatened with dismissal. By Emil A Pehrsson with Ingrid Luterkort, Britta Brunius and Karl-Arne Holmsten.
Sunny Solberg (1941) By chance, a rich shipbroker hears the choir singer Solberg sing and is so enchanted that he offers him a loan so he can open a café. By Emil A Pehrsson with Märta Arbin and Anna-Greta Krigström.
Snapphanar (1941) Farmer Grimme-Jens wants nothing more than to live in peace and quiet, but when the Snapphanar Wars break out in the 1670s and his son is captured, he too is forced to take up arms. By Åke Ohberg with Edvard Persson, George Fant and Åke Ohberg.
