Never before or since has a foreign film caused such a big Swedish censorship row as DEATH WEEKEND. The row lasted from 1976 to 1990 and resulted in the film, in various cut versions, being banned seven times and reaching the government level in five of the cases. “The film can be brutalizing by blunting the sense of human worth,” claimed the censors, while censorship opponents such as Jan Guillou and former People's Party leader Per Ahlmark believed that it was both a good and important film. Finally, the film was released – amputated by seven minutes! Studio S is proud to present the film in its full original length, for the very first time on Blu-ray! William Fruet's reality-based film is about a couple who are raped and humiliated in a secluded house in the country, whereupon the woman takes a horrific revenge. Producer Ivan Reitman later became one of Hollywood's greatest directors with Ghostbusters I & II on his resume.
