A CLASSICAL BALLET FILMED IN A NEW WAY. FOR THE AUDIENCE WHO APPRECIATES OPERA AND BALLET AT THE CINEMA!
" You can't help but be completely absorbed by this beautiful fantasy " - Screen Daily
When Doctor Coppelius arrives in the village, people are transfixed. The doctor promises perfect beauty. But at a very high price. Of course, the mustache-twirling charmer has a secret agenda. To strip everyone of their humanity and give it to his main creation: the robot woman Coppelia. Soon, only the young girl Svanhilda stands between him and total success. Follow along on an amazing adventure with Svanhilda, Franz and their friends to save their happy little town. FANTASTIC DANCE IN A FAIRYTALE ADVENTURE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. Coppelia is a wonderfully colorful film. The story is told without dialogue so that everyone can follow along. Here we get animation and dance in beautiful harmony, a modern version of the ballet from 1870 which in turn was based on ETA Hoffman's classic epistolary novel The Sandman . Ted Brandsen from the Netherlands National Ballet is in charge of the choreography and the music is written by Maurizio Malagnini. In the lead role we see Michaela DePrince as Svanhilda. DePrince had a difficult upbringing during the civil war in Sierra Leone. Since then, however, she has had a brilliant career in the ballet world. DePrince was previously the youngest ever to be part of the Dance Theatre of Harlem and has also danced with the Netherlands National Ballet. Since 2016, she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization War Child. Her lover Franz is played by Brazilian dancer Daniel Camargo who also has a past with the Netherlands National Ballet. Camargo is currently active as part of the troupe at the Hong Kong Ballet. -- " A Disney-like adorable fairy tale " - Screen Daily " You can't help but be completely absorbed by this beautiful fantasy " - Screen Daily " With gorgeous hand-drawn backgrounds " - Crooked Marquee
