In a remote village in South America, 40-year-old Clara lives with her strictly religious mother who keeps her in check. Clara is very special, in many ways. Swedish-Costa Rican Nathalie Álvarez Mesén has made a sensation with her feature film debut, which in addition to international awards won five of the biggest awards at the Guldbagge Gala. She has previously made several award-winning short films both in Sweden and in the USA, but she wanted to shoot her first film in her native language in Costa Rica.
