BASKET CASE was the debut film of the very, very disturbed Frank Henenlotter, shot on a minimal budget. The film quickly became a hit and ran for two years as a night cinema in New York. Over time, the film has gained acceptance even outside of cult circles and was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art in 2017. In Sweden, the censors made six clips totaling 3.5 minutes in the first part. Parts 2 and 3 are several notches more violent and therefore it was considered pointless to even try to get them approved by the censors – so they are only getting their Swedish premiere now!
