John De Bello was the director who first brought the tomato problem to the world's attention. It happened in 1978 with ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES , a low-budget film that became a surprise hit and spawned three sequels, one of them starring a young and green George Clooney. Its popularity has also resulted in two video games, an animated television series from Marvel, and the deadly hot sauce Killer Tomato Hot Sauce.
