The Japanese mafia, the so-called yakuza, is spreading more and more in the United States. FBI agent Nick David is assigned to infiltrate the organization and manages to save the life of one of the leaders, which makes him the first American ever to be elected to the bloody brotherhood. At the same time as Nick participates in the war between the yakuza and the mafia, he begins to appreciate his position a little too much. The underworld is about to explode and Nick must now choose between all the allure of gangster rule and loyalty to law and order.

AMERICAN YAKUZA is now being released on Blu-ray for the first time, something Studio S is the only one in the world to do. The film's success was a boost in Viggo Mortensen's climb towards blockbusters such as Red Sea, GI Jane, A Perfect Murder and of course the role of Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Since then, Mortensen has focused on more serious roles, which has resulted in three Oscar nominations in just ten years, most recently for Green Book.
